The terms for using Terminal
These terms apply to Terminal, the iPhone app, and to this website. Terminal is made by Jay (“we”, “us”). By downloading or using Terminal, you agree to these terms. Please read them with our privacy policy, which explains how we handle your information.
Using Terminal
Terminal helps you follow flights: the ones you are taking and the ones you are keeping an eye on. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Terminal on Apple devices that you own or control, for your own non-commercial use, as the App Store’s rules allow.
Some features use your calendar, your location, your microphone or your motion sensors. Each one is optional and works only if you allow it. The privacy policy explains what each one uses.
Smart Search. If you turn on Smart Search, a search Terminal cannot read on your iPhone is shared with our AI partners, Anthropic and Google, so that it can be understood: only what’s needed to understand it, and never your name or location. They are never allowed to use it to train their AI or for advertising, and Terminal never sells your data. The privacy policy lists exactly what is shared.
Flight Information Can Be Wrong
The schedules, gates, delays, cancellations, diversions, baggage belts, takeoffs and landings in Terminal come from third-party flight data providers, and all of it is provided “as is” and “as available”. It can be late, incomplete or wrong, and Terminal cannot always tell when it is. A gate can change after Terminal last checked, a flight can be cancelled before a provider reports it, and a notification can be late or not arrive at all.
Terminal is not a substitute for your airline. Your airline’s app, website and messages, and the screens and announcements at the airport, are the authority. If Terminal and your airline disagree, follow your airline.
Terminal is for personal travel information only. It must not be used for flight planning, navigation, air traffic control, flight dispatch or any other operational aviation purpose.
Accounts
You do not need an account to use Terminal. When signing in is offered, you can sign in with Apple or Google to keep your flights and your Logbook with your account. You are responsible for the Apple or Google account you sign in with, and for keeping your devices secure. You can sign out at any time, and delete your account at any time with Delete Account in Terminal’s Settings. We may suspend or delete an account that is used to break these terms.
Acceptable Use
Please use Terminal fairly. You agree not to:
- send automated or excessive requests to Terminal or our server, or scrape the flight information behind it;
- copy, resell or redistribute Terminal’s flight information, or use it to build another service;
- reverse engineer, decompile or interfere with Terminal or our server, except where the law allows it;
- try to reach information that is not yours, or get around the limits that protect the service;
- use Terminal for anything unlawful.
Our service has limits, and one person abusing them can affect everyone else. We may limit or block use that breaks these rules.
Terminal Plus
Terminal is free to download and use. An optional Terminal Plus subscription is coming later. When it arrives:
- Terminal Plus will be sold and billed by Apple through the App Store, using your Apple account. The price and the length of each subscription period will be shown before you subscribe.
- A subscription will renew automatically at the end of each period, and your Apple account will be charged for the next one, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends.
- You will be able to manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your Apple account settings. Cancelling will stop the next renewal, and you will keep Terminal Plus until the end of the period you have paid for.
- If a free trial is offered, any unused part of it will end when you subscribe.
- Refunds will be handled by Apple, under Apple’s own rules. We cannot issue refunds ourselves.
Apple’s Terms
Terminal is distributed through the App Store, so Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies, wherever it covers something these terms do not. These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for Terminal, its content or its support.
Our Responsibility
We work to make Terminal accurate and reliable, but we cannot promise that it will always be available, free of errors or up to date. To the fullest extent the law allows, Terminal is provided without warranties of any kind.
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for missed flights or connections, rebooking costs, hotel nights, lost time, or any other loss that follows from information in Terminal being wrong, late or unavailable, or from a notification that was late or did not arrive. Where our liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for Terminal in the twelve months before the claim.
Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have by law that cannot be limited, including your rights as a consumer.
The Service Can Change or Stop
Terminal is a small app made by one person. We may change or remove features, change our data providers, or stop offering Terminal. We will try to give notice of significant changes, but cannot always promise it.
Changes to These Terms
When these terms change, we will update this page and the date at the top. If you keep using Terminal after that, you accept the new version.
